Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the role of certified teachers in improving the quality of learning in SMP Negeri 2 Wakorumba Utara, Kab. Buton Utara. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The informants of this study were 14 people, namely the principal, 8 teachers, and 5 students. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. As for checking the validity of the data using triangulation. The results showed that the role of certified teachers in improving the quality of learning at SMP Negeri 2 Wakorumba Utara, Kab. Buton Utara, namely: 1) the learning material presented was not monotonous, the teacher carried out creativity and innovation in each presentation of the subject matter, especially in the use of strategies, methods and media and learning resources that were varied, creative and innovative. 2) planning and preparing daily lessons by preparing lesson plans that will be applied with students to achieve predetermined competencies. 3) carry out interactive, inspirational, fun, challenging learning activities and motivate students to actively participate, and provide sufficient space for students to be creative, independent, according to their talents and interests. 4) controlling student learning activities and evaluating the development of student learning outcomes, knowledge, attitudes, and skills.
