1. Purpose of the Policy

This policy is established to ensure that the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) is conducted ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with academic standards throughout the processes of writing, reviewing, and publishing manuscripts in JIMSH.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all authors, editors, reviewers, and any parties involved in the editorial and publication processes of JIMSH.

3. Principles of Generative AI Use

  • Generative AI is permitted as a supporting tool, not as a substitute for the author’s scholarly competence.

  • The use of AI must not violate publication ethics, compromise originality, or produce invalid research data.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for the authenticity, accuracy, and scientific integrity of their manuscripts.

4. Permitted Uses of AI

Generative AI may be used in limited ways, including:

  • Language editing, grammar correction, and writing style improvement.

  • Non-substantive summarization or paraphrasing that does not alter the scientific meaning.

  • Drafting basic outlines or initial manuscript structures.

  • Textual analysis or secondary data analysis without manipulating original research data.

5. Prohibited Uses of AI

The following uses of Generative AI are strictly prohibited in JIMSH:

  • Generating or manipulating research data (primary or secondary), simulations, or empirical findings not based on actual data.

  • Writing the entire manuscript using AI without meaningful scholarly contribution from the author.

  • Creating fabricated citations or fictitious references.

  • Any form of plagiarism or content duplication resulting from AI-generated output.

6. AI Use Disclosure Requirements

Authors must disclose any use of AI clearly and transparently in the Acknowledgment or Author’s Note section. Example statement:

“The authors used a Generative AI tool (e.g., ChatGPT) in a limited capacity for language editing without influencing the scientific analysis or substantive content of this article.”

7. Ethical Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that AI usage does not violate copyright, data privacy, research confidentiality, or academic ethical standards within the fields of management, social sciences, and humanities.

8. Actions for Policy Violations

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Mandatory revision,

  • Manuscript rejection, or

  • Article retraction if the violation is discovered after publication.

9. Policy Revision

This policy will be reviewed and updated periodically in accordance with advances in Generative AI technology and evolving ethical guidelines in scholarly publishing.
